Weddings in the Time of COVID
What a year. What a year.
It's been an incredibly hard year for everyone and the live event industry was far from immune. There were SO MANY couples excited to get married in 2020. Many that had waited for this year to finally get married. And then they couldn't. In an unprecedented event that shook the ENTIRE world, weddings were upended for the whole year.
Some couples still got married this year, but no wedding after March went unaffected. Guests lists were cut, dates were changed, vendors lost. The things that make your wedding what it is, the decisions you had spent all of your time, effort and money on were tossed up in the air for you to have to figure out again. Start from scratch.
A beautiful thing that has come from all of this ugliness is the rise of micro weddings - small, intimate weddings with an emphasis on the few people you are allowed to have in your physical presence. We are reminded of what really matters about a wedding celebration. And good wedding videography is even more important now than ever to bring the experience of your big day to so many who are heart broken that they can't be there in person.
Aisha & Denis made a completely new plan for their wedding this July. Instead of a big barn wedding in Plattsburgh, they had an intimate wedding weekend with their family and close friends at a beautiful lake house in Lake Placid. They still had their ceremony, they still had their first dance, they still cut the cake & they still got married. It was a magical weekend and the bride said she wouldn’t have changed a thing about it.
There are many different types of celebrations going on, though few and far between. Some couples are having a small ceremony this year and having the bigger, originally planned reception in 2021. Some are having the small celebration this year and calling it. It is not an enviable position to be in, but one way or another you will still get married to the love of your life. Your day will be spectacular and you will have memories to look back on as you continue in your journey together.
